Family seek apology from Indian government

The father of a child who was blacklisted from entering India is seeking an apology and compensation from the Indian government.

The two-year-old child and his mother were stopped from entering India on 12 January and then detained for four hours Auckland International Airport when they returned to New Zealand.

Lawyer Matt Robson has written to the Indian government demanding an independent inquiry as to how this could have happened.

He says mother and son both had visas from the Indian High Commission.

Mr Robson says he is also asking the New Zealand Government why they were then questioned for hours by Customs.
