Thousands of people lined the streets of central Wellington today for the annual Wellington Sevens parade.

All 16 teams were on display for the fans as the parade went down Lambton Quay, Willis Street and ended with a reception at Civic Square.

Players were busy giving fans high fives, taking photos with their selfie sticks and lapping up the atmosphere on a scorching hot, sunny Wellington day.

New Zealand Sevens captain DJ Forbes said the atmosphere was electric.

"To see the city turn out and get behind the boys is really exciting. As well as all the other countries that are here today," he said.
