A postie has lost his job after stockpiling nearly 2000 items of mail at his home.
The New Zealand Post subcontractor was investigated after residents in Auckland's north western suburbs of Helensville and Parakai complained they were not getting regular deliveries at the end of last year.
The company said the postie was struggling to deliver all the mail and had been hoarding envelopes and packages for up to a month.
It said it recovered all the unopened mail this week and the worker will not be charged.
