The Sensible Sentencing Trust says a teenage murder-accused who has skipped bail should never have been released from police custody.

Beauen Wallace-Loretz is charged, with another teenager, of murdering Ihaia Gillman-Harris in an Epsom hotel room days after Christmas.
Police were still searching for the 17-year-old, who fled his Avondale bail address on Thursday night after removing his electronic tag.
Sensible Sentencing Trust spokesperson Garth McVicar said the Police opposed bail but the judge had to follow the law, which was too lenient on under-18s.
"What the police are saying here is that this guys should not be approached, he was always dangerous.
"From the time he was arrested he was dangerous, because of his age and because of the legislation the judge's hands were tied to a certain extent."
Mr McVicar said Beauen Wallace-Loretz should have been held at a remand prison before his trial.
