The Wellington Phoenix match against the Brisbane Roar was called off because of heavy rain but the Phoenix were awarded the points because they were leading 2-1 at the time.

The win moves the Phoenix four points clear at the top of the points table.

A waterlogged pitch at Lang Park meant passes were held up by large puddles.

The referee was forced to officially abandon the game in the 73rd minute.

It was the Phoenix's first ever win at Lang Park.

A match official said that if the game had been stopped before half-time, it would have had to go to a replay.

Brisbane scored after just five minutes but Michael McGlinchey equalised for the Phoenix 10 minutes later.

Then Nathan Burns put Wellington 2-1 up just before half time.

The Phoenix are now four points ahead of Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC and Perth Glory, who are all tied in second place on 38 points.
