Police have arrested one of two prisoners who escaped following an appearance at Lower Hutt District Court.
Steven Tony Sinclair and Graham James Cope escaped last Thursday after overpowering a prison officer.
Detective Sergeant Dean Simpson says Cope was found on Wednesday night at a house in Lower Hutt.
The 18-year-old appeared in court on Thursday charged with escaping custody.
Sinclair, 35, is still at large. He is described as Maori, of medium build, and about 1.67 metres tall.
Police believe Sinclair may be armed and are asking the public not to approach him.
