Power line charges to increase in Auckland

Auckland consumers can expect a rise in power prices due to an increase in line charges.

Vector is to raise the fees charged to power companies by about 2.3% from 1 April.

Vector says residential customers will face an average increase of about $1.80 per month and it will be up to retailers as to how and when the rise will be passed on.

It says the average increase is in line with thresholds set by the Commerce Commission.

Vector says the rise is because of increases in what it pays to Transpower, councils, the Electricity Commission and the Commerce Commission.
