A missing paraglider was found at the base of a cliff near Christchurch on Sunday night.
Police say the man, 34, got into difficulties while gliding at Taylor's Mistake, south east of the city. He was reported missing at 9.30pm.
Walkers on the Whitewash Head track signalled a search helicopter after hearing him at the base of a nearby cliff.
He was then winched to safety with minor cuts and bruises.
