Molesworth Station now bigger

New Zealand's biggest farm, Molesworth Station, is now bigger, with the leasing of two neighbouring properties in Hanmer Springs.

The station covers more than 180,000 hectares between Marlborough, Nelson and Canterbury.

The leased properties add another 1540 hectares.

Molesworth Station falls under the control of the Department of Conservation, but is farmed by the state-owned enterprise, Landcorp.

Because there is a limit to the number of stock allowed on DOC land, station manager Jim Ward says he needed to look at using other properties to grow the business.
