A Napier florist has been sentenced to community work for using an internet search engine to change details of a number of her competitors.

Police charged Kendra Drinkwater in December last year after seven florists in Hawke's Bay complained that the 40-year-old had altered their business addresses, phone numbers and website details.

Judge Tony Adeane sentenced Drinkwater to 100 hours of community work and nine months' supervision when she appeared in the Napier District Court on Tuesday.

Drinkwater was also ordered to undergo counselling.
