A former economist and secretary of the Council of Trade Unions, Peter Conway, has died.
A statement from his family said he battled a depressive illness for more than 12 months and fought hard in a daily struggle.
The family said Mr Conway dedicated his whole working life to improving the lives of working people.
He was previously the chair of Oxfam New Zealand and was on the Board of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
