More than 1,100 family and friends of the crews are expected to greet them at the Devonport Naval Base in Auckland.

Te Kaha left in February to take part in the Gallipoli celebrations and an anti-piracy mission in the Western Indian Ocean, while Endeavour sailed in March to support the Royal Australian Navy and join an exercise off the coasts of Malaysia and Singapore.

Both ships then took part in Talisman Sabre last month, the largest exercise Australia conducts with America.
