Police are appealing to the public for help identifying the man who allegedly pointed a gun at the female store-keeper at the Hilltop Dairy of Awakino Road at about 4.15pm.

They say the man made off on foot with cash and cigarettes.

Police said the woman was unhurt, but had been left traumatised by the incident.

The CCTV footage shows the robber wearing a grey hoodie, white cap and sunglasses and a red scarf hiding his lower face.

Police are keen to speak to two men seen nearby at the time driving a beige or tan coloured twin cab ute.

They have advised that the offender should not be approached, and have asked people to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour around dairies and shops in the Dargaville area.
