All Whites leave for pre-World Cup match with Mexico

9:11 pm on 1 March 2010

The New Zealand football team fly to the United States on Monday for their first FIFA World Cup warm-up match against Mexico in Pasadena.

The All Whites are missing some experience with captain Ryan Nelsen and defender Ivan Vicelich missing, but coach Ricki Herbert says he will use the game to try out new player combinations.

Herbert says the team has realistic expectations against Mexico, which is ranked 17th.

The match is in Mexico on Thursday (NZT).
