The police said they were called to Molesworth Place in Mangere at about 1pm this afternoon after a street brawl where the 20-year-old man was reported to have brandished a gun.

He fled in a car with three teenagers and was chased through Otahuhu, Mount Wellington and Mangere before stopping in Mangere.

The police immediately caught the three teenagers but the man ran off, leaving the gun behind in the car.

Dog squad members tracked him to a nearby house where he was hiding, and arrested him.

He will face multiple charges in Manukau district court on Monday.

The police originally said they followed the man for 90 minutes.

However, they later clairified their statement to reveal they only chased him for eight minutes, after he was spotted by a patrol car about an hour after fleeing the scene of the street fight.
