The Australian Government has ordered the deportation to New Zealand of a senior member of the Rebel Bikies gang Perth chapter.
New Zealand-born Joel Royston Makaea, who has lived in Perth for six years, was arrested earlier this week and is being held in immigration detention at Perth airport.
Australian Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has revoked the visa of the 34-year-old, who is believed to have six children.
Mr Dutton's spokesperson said the minister would not comment on individual cases but had the authority to revoke the visa of anyone involved in criminal activities.
Mr Makaea was in 1999 sentenced to five years in prison after he and an accomplice bashed another man with a shovel, cut his achilles tendons and stabbed his hands.
