New pastors appointed at Destiny Church in Brisbane

New pastors have been appointed to run Destiny Church's congregation in Brisbane after a walkout by members at a service last Sunday in support of their former pastor.

It is believed Andrew Stock resigned after disagreeing with a recently-introduced covenant that clashed with his beliefs.

Destiny Church says the covenant is a commitment by male members towards the vision and leadership of the church.

Spokesperson Richard Lewis would not go into details of why Mr Stock chose to leave the church, but told Morning Report there was an amicable resolution.

Mr Lewis said he does not know how many members of the congregation walked out, but more than 100 attended a meeting on Wednesday to welcome the new pastor.

Some comment has been made about the church using eftpos machines and automatic payments to collect tithes.

Mr Lewis said it is important to use modern technology in collecting money and the practice makes sense.

He said merchandise and other products are available for sale at churches and eftpos makes this easier to achieve.
