A Christchurch man has been sentenced to 18 months' intensive supervision and 150 hours of community service for possessing child pornography.
An investigation by Interpol into a child sex abuse website in Croatia led to the arrest of David Clarke Smith, 49, last year.
Police recovered almost 150 images from Smith's laptop, including pictures of children involved in sexual acts with animals, and children in bondage acts.
In Christchurch District Court on Friday , Judge Jane Farish said Smith is deeply repentant and is to be commended for the rehabilitative measures he has taken.
