A hail storm caused problems on the Kapiti Coast on Thursday evening.
Police say several cars where involved in crashes shortly before 8pm, but no one was seriously injured.
The storm also activated lights and bells at railway crossings, creating some delays.
A tree blocked State Highway One south of the Otaki bridge for a time, but was later cleared.
