Less queuing at Ellerslie Flower Show, say organisers

Ellerslie International Flower Show organisers say they are better prepared this year to cope with crowds at the event at Hagley Park in Christchurch.

Event director, Dave Mee, says there have been fewer pre-sold tickets to this year, but he's expecting more on-the-day sales.

He says changes have been made so people don't have to queue to see exhibits for more than 20 minutes once they're inside the venue.

Mr Mee says the floral art and horticulture marquees have been combined into a bigger marquee, with more entry points for better access.

The flower show opened to the public on Wednesday.
