A generous gift to Wellington College will enable the memory of one of its former pupils live on for generations to come.

Tom Paul, who attended the school in the 1930s, died during World War II. He attended the school in the 1930s.

His fiance, 92-year-old Violet Dunn, has given the school $1.5 million as a tribute to him. Of that amount, $1 million will go toward rebuilding a memorial hall, with the rest invested, and interest used to promote education at the school.

Wellington College says the money means a lot to the school.

The RSA's national president, Robin Klitscher, says the gift is a fitting way to remember an old soldier.
