Kawakawa Bay residents allowed back into homes

Residents of evacuated homes in Auckland's Kawakawa Bay have been given the all-clear to move back in.

A major land-slip in August led to the evacuations and caused the closure of the Kawakawa-Clevedon Road.

Just five homeowners were waiting to return and geotechnical experts now say the slip has stabilised because of better weather and drainage work.

Manukau City Council says it is working on a permanent solution.

The Kawakawa-Clevedon road is still down to one lane and will not completely re-open until the middle of summer.
