Man fatally hit by reversing bus in Queenstown

Tourism company Southern Discoveries has suspended its Queenstown operations following the death of an elderly man in a car park.

A bus reversed into the 73-year-old man at the Mount Nicholas Station at Queenstown.

He was taken to Queenstown Hospital but died from his injuries.

Southern Discoveries chief executive Tim Hunter said staff were deeply shocked and saddened by the incident.

He said the company was supporting the man's wife, who was not with him at the time.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
