A man who was assaulted in the Wairarapa township of Featherston last week has died in hospital.
The death is being investigated as a homicide.
Police say Paul Richard Bernard Irons, 36, was taken off life support on Tuesday afternoon.
He was found lying in a park last Thursday morning with serious head and chest injuries.
Three men, aged 15, 17 and 25 appeared in court last week, charged with assault, and will reappear in court again on Wednesday.
Police say a post-mortem is to be carried out on Wednesday and they are seeking advice from Crown Law about laying further charges.
