A member of the public spotted her on Waiwhiu Conical Peak Road in Dome Valley about 7am yesterday, police said.

Police would not comment on reports that she was found bound and gagged.

She remains in a critical condition.

Her identity was initially a mystery, but police said she had now been identified and her family were at her bedside in Auckland Hospital.

Police said there was no evidence of any link to the case of a woman, Jindarat Prutsiriporn, who escaped, bound and gagged, from a car boot in South Auckland in March, and later died from her injuries.

Police are continuing to appeal to members of the public for information. Anyone who saw anything in the Dome Valley area on Sunday evening through to Monday morning is urged to contact the Orewa Police Station on 09 426 4555.
