Scott Watson's father wants lawyer's speech investigated

10:23 am on 12 April 2010

Police are still deciding whether to investigate claims from the father of Scott Watson that the lawyer who prosecuted his son publicly named secret witnesses.

Watson is serving a life sentence for the 1997 murders of Ben Smart and Olivia Hope.

His father, Chris Watson, says the Crown lawyer in the case, Paul Davison, named suppressed witnesses in a speech published online and he wants Mr Davison to be disciplined.

"[Its] quite ironic that these are his witnesses that he's blown the cover on," Mr Watson said.

"It was him that applied the suppression orders. The man should know these things. I'm sure a lot more would happen if I was to do it."

Chris Watson claims the speech by Paul Davison is full of misinformation.

Mr Davison is not making any comment on the matter.
