Too many outlets selling alcohol to minors - police

1:21 pm on 27 June 2016

Two-thirds of liquor outlets police targeted in Auckland over the weekend sold alcohol to minors.

Of the six places inspected during a targeted operation in Onehunga and Epsom over the weekend, four sold alcoholic drinks to under 18s.

Inspector Gary Davey said the results were extremely frustrating as there has been a high failure rate across Auckland recently.

He said in some cases, the alcohol was sold to a 15-year-old who had handed over ID which clearly showed their age.
