A 22-year-old man has appeared in Tauranga District Court charged with the murder of a three-month-old boy.
The accused was granted interim name suppression.
He has been charged with the murder of Richard Uddin and seven charges of assault on a child.
The boy died in Tauranga Hospital after being taken there by his mother on 7 June.
The murder charge was laid by the police yesterday, after the results of a post mortem.
The man will appear in the High Court next month.
