An Army officer has been demoted following his conviction on three charges at a court martial at Linton military camp.
Glen Edward Roberts had been accused of grabbing recruits' testicles and pulling their hair.
He was found guilty on three out of 13 charges.
The guilty charges concerned ill treatment of a person of lower rank and committing an act likely to prejudice service discipline, but he was found not guilty on assault charges.
Roberts has been demoted from staff sergeant to sergeant, and will not be eligible for promotion for 12 months.
A severe reprimand is being placed on his permanent record.
Five recruits from two separate courses run by Mr Roberts in September and October 2014 gave evidence to the court martial.
Mr Roberts had pleaded not guilty to all charges, which related to close combat training at Waiouru in 2014.
He was found not guilty of three charges of assault on a female, three of ill-treatment of a person of lower rank, one of common assault and one of committing an act likely to prejudice service discipline. There was no finding on two common assault charges.
