The pass rate for the learner car licence test is now rising, after having dropped sharply in the first few months of a new testing regime.
The Transport Agency switched from doing learner licence theory testing on paper to computer to ensure the test is truly random.
The pass rate from the 70,000 tests done on computer in the past seven-and-a-half-months is 48%.
That's up from the 42% recorded after the first 20,000 tests done, but still well short of the 77% achieved under the old paper testing regime.
Transport Agency spokesperson Andy Knackstedt says the pass rate is going up because people now realise the test is random and they need to have a good knowledge of the road code.
