A group of children escaped with only minor injuries after the school bus they were travelling in crashed near Dannevirke, in Manawatu, this morning.

Police said 14 children were on the bus when it crashed into a power pole on Top Grass Road about 8.30.
Four children suffered minor injuries and were being checked over by medical staff, police said.
The driver and the rest of the children were unharmed.
Strong winds in the area were thought to have caused the crash.
