Power is being restored after a cut hit about 5000 homes north and west of Auckland.

About 2500 homes were still without power north of Auckland about 8pm.
Vector reported outages across Dairy Flats and Albany since 7pm.
Muriwai, Kumeu and Riverhead also lost power but have since got it back.
Vector said crews were out trying to find the cause of the cut.
It was estimated power would be restored by about 9pm.
