A 23-year-old woman has appeared in the Hamilton District Court charged with assaulting an elderly man in her care.
Sonali Ananta Deo has been charged with assault following the incident at Hamilton's Cascades retirement facility in June.
A video was posted online appearing to show a caregiver slapping and mishandling 86-year-old dementia patient Piri Hemi.
Ms Deo did not enter a plea and has been remanded on bail
Police are considering diversion.
