An Armed Offenders Squad search in Kaiwaka has been unable to find a man police believe shot at officers and stole a police car on Friday.

A police spokesman said the search was contained to one residental address and there was no risk to the wider public.
After the search, police confirmed it was in relation to a large-scale hunt for Joshua Kite in the rural Northland town.
A man believed to be Kite shot at two officers in Whangarei on Friday morning before stealing an un-marked police car.
The last known sighting of him was in Kaiwaka. Police again asked anyone who saw Kite to call 111 immediately.
