A Palmerston North man has been arrested over an attack on a 99-year-old woman in her home.
Police say the woman was assaulted by an intruder in the suburb of Roslyn early on Thursday.
Neighbours called police shortly before 2am after they heard the woman screaming.
She is being treated for arm and leg injuries at Palmerston North hospital.
Detective Senior Sargeant Craig Sheridan says a 20-year-old man will appear in Palmerston North District Court on Thursday charged with assault.
Police say the woman did not know her attacker.
