A South Taranaki woman charged with murder has made a brief appearance in the High Court at New Plymouth this morning.

Helen Joyce Rose was arrested on 3 June following the death of Rex Karaitiana, two days after the police say she stabbed him.

Ms Rose has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.

Members of Mr Karaitiana's family, many wearing sweatshirts with the slogan "K-Style Whanau" and "KSW" written on them, were in court today for her appearance, which was by audio-visual link.

Mr Karaitiana was 50 when he died.

Justice Collins invited Ms Rose's defence team to apply for electronically monitored bail, subject to a police check of the nominated address.

The 46-year-old Eltham woman is due to reappear in court for a decision on 28 October.

Her trial date has been set down for June next year.
