A head-on crash has closed State Highway 1 in both directions at Pokeno, south of Auckland.
Four people were injured, and the road was closed between the Pokeno on ramp and off ramp.
One person had critical injuries and was flown to hospital by the rescue helicopter.
The serious crash unit is investigating.
