Police have found a man who allegedly made unwanted advances to a hitchhiker near Queenstown.
They have been appealing for information about the man, who picked the 22-year old woman up in Frankton yesterday morning and dropped her off in Cromwell.
They said they had now spoken to him and were continuing their inquiries.
The police were reminding people that hitchhiking could be risky.
Hitchhikers could use the Safe programme run by Spark that allowed people to record the vehicle they got into, the time of travel and the route, they said.
