There are no concerns for public safety following a fire at a building in Franz Josef on the West Coast, police say.
State Highway 6 was closed and motorists were asked to avoid the area around Donovan Drive as emergency services dealt with the incident around 11pm yesterday.
Police said the fire was under control and they had no concerns for public safety.
Despite reports, police said the Armed Offenders Squad had not been deployed, but officers would remain at the scene overnight to assist Fire Services with managing the scene.
Police said the cause of the fire would be investigated.
