A man is in critical condition with facial and skull fractures after a serious assault in the Hutt Valley last night.
The attack took place on Randwick Road in the suburb of Moera, just before 7.30pm.
The man was now in the intensive care unit at Wellington Hospital.
Police were speaking to a 43-year-old man about the attack.
A scene examination was being carried out at the property.
