Police locate man with gun in Invercargill

Cordons that went up around several Invercargill streets have been lifted after police found a man with a firearm.

Streets in the Invercargill suburb of Grasmere were cordoned off by the police late last night, following reports that a man had presented a gun in public.

Invercargill police said a man had spoken to police and the firearm had been located, and the cordon was lifted by 1am today.

Cordons were in place in Heywood Street, Bay Road, Paterson Street and Drury Lane.

Police have thanked residents in the area for their patience.
