A man in Christchurch has been arrested after the residents of a house he allegedly broke into chased him down the street.
The man and two companions entered the house and stole car keys before being confronted by the occupants, police said.
The trio ran off, with the residents in hot pursuit.
One of the burglars, who police say was carrying a taser, was eventually tracked by a police dog and arrested.
The 24-year-old has been charged with two counts of aggravated burglary and will appear in court on Monday.
