Solid Energy has signed an agreement with New Zealand Steel to supply coal to the Glenbrook plant, near Auckland.
The State-owned coal miner says it will invest over $100 million developing and extending the Huntly East underground mine over the next five years once it secures land and mineral access.
The new agreement runs for five years.
