Armed police arrest man in central Wellington

Armed police have apprehended a man at a Wellington apartment after a break in this morning.

RNZ was told a woman living in the Boulcott Street apartment told bystanders the man was known to her, and was wearing a holster, which could have held a large knife or a gun.

Police entered the building and have taken a man into custody.

They said no-one was seriously injured in the incident.

A dog unit was also deployed during the incident.

Armed police arrest a man in relation to a knife attack in a Wellington apartment. The man is believed to be the partner of a woman living in the apartment who broke in and attacked her.
