12:50 pm on 15 October 2016

A confirmed case of measles in Queenstown has prompted calls for people in the area to check if they have been vaccinated.

Southern District Health Board was notified that a person contracted the disease three days ago.

Medical officer of health Marion Poore said people should treat it as a wake-up call to make sure they were fully vaccinated.

She said people who thought they might have measles should isolate themselves at home.
