Junior doctors and DHB talk

11:12 am on 26 October 2016

A third attempt will be made to resolve differences between junior doctors and their employers over rosters.

Neither side would comment, but RNZ understands mediated talks will take place in Auckland today.

It will be the third time mediation has been tried.

About 2000 hospital doctors went on strike for two days last week in protest at a roster of 12 consecutive days, followed by two off.

They said that was unsafe and it should be replaced by up to 10 consecutive days with four off.

District health boards said they were prepared to address the matter, but could not pay doctors for days they did not work.
