A Taranaki father has admitted causing the death of his two-year-old daughter.

Philip Murray Kinraid had previously pleaded not guilty to charges relating to the toddler's death and was due to stand trial next week.
Kinraid appeared in the High Court at New Plymouth yesterday via video link from Dunedin, and pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge.
Emergency services were called to the Kinraid family home in Hawera at 11pm on 26 June last year.
They found the toddler unresponsive and attempted to revive her, but were unsuccessful.
Justice Williams convicted Kinraid yesterday and issued a first strike warning against him.
Kinraid will reappear for sentencing in February next year.
