State Highway 1 north of Auckland has reopened after a two-car crash earlier this evening.
Police said one person was in a critical condition and others had to be freed from the wreckage by the Fire Service after the crash in Dome Valley, north of Warkworth.
The road was closed for several hours, and diversions were put in place.

Meanwhile, in Wellington, the New Zealand Transport Agency said a crash on the motorway has been cleared and though traffic was heavy, that was normal for a Friday afternoon.
Motorists have been reporting long queues heading north to Kapiti on SH1.
However, the agency said the crash near the Tinakori off-ramp northbound was clear by 4pm.
