Scott Watson, the man convicted of killing Olivia Hope and Ben Smart in the Marlborough Sounds in 1998, has sought release from prison.

The parole board has confirmed Watson's hearing was today, but the outcome will not be released until tomorrow.
Watson is serving a life sentence for killing the pair on New Year's Day in the Marlborough Sounds in 1998.
Ms Hope's and Mr Smart's bodies have never been found.
Watson has maintained he did not commit the murders.
