Two arrests follow Tauranga man's injury

Two men have been arrested in Tauranga after a 57-year-old man was left with a serious chest injury.

A 33-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, while a 26-year-old has been charged with assault with a weapon.

They were expected to appear in Tauranga District Court on 9 January.

The victim was in Tauranga Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Stabbing at Hicks Bay

Meanwhile, a 58-year-old man was flown to Tauranga Hospital after a stabbing at Hicks Bay on the East Cape.

Police said the man was in a stable condition.

They have arrested a 39-year-old man and said the two men knew each other.
